Jubilant January Universal Value- ‘I am Truthful’ Truth is the foundation for a fair and just society. It is a basic moral principle, rule or value. During the rapport building sessions, children were explained about the significance of the Universal Value- ‘I am Truthful’. They were introduced to the two aspects of truthfulness - being true to ourselves and being true to others. The educator highlighted the importance of being truthful by citing a few examples and sharing the story of ‘Pinocchio’ with the children. Naturalistic Intelligence Our earth is home to many life forms whether its giant elephants or tiny bumble bees, various plants or humans. The educator discussed the SDG 15 - Life on land through a video presentation and various ways to promote sustainable management of all types of forests and wildlife. Children thoroughly enjoyed the virtual trip to a zoo wherein they experienced the activities of wild animals. They also explored the concept of food chain and reiterated the terms – producers, composers and decomposers through a free hand drawing activity along with the educator. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence –English This month, we focused upon developing our children's ability to use letters and words effectively. It's important to remind our little ones of their previous knowledge. Children revisited letters 'i' to 'z' through jolly phonics and practiced the writing of these letters in their linguistic notebooks. They practiced reading CVC words with the middle sound of vowel 'o' in their Verbal Linguistic Reader. Children recapitulated the sight words done so far and also learnt some new sight words-"went, likes, with" that helped them in reading short sentences. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence –Hindi हिंदी सीखने के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण भाषा है, भारतीय मूल के बच्चों के लिए, लेकिन उन सभी बच्चों के लिए भी जो दुनिया में सबसे अधिक बोली जाने वाली भाषाओं में से एक को जानने का लाभ चाहते हैं। बच्चो ने फ्लैश कार्ड और कहानियों के माध्यम से अपने संबंधित शब्दावली शब्दों के साथ नए व्यंजन को सीखा। उन्हें व्यंजन गीत गाने में भी मजा आया। Logical Mathematical Intelligence ‘Mathematics gives us hope, that every problem has a solution’.
Visual-Spatial Intelligence Art is a creative therapy, which uses all disciplines of art; visual movements, imagination skills, aesthetic skills and finger dexterity. Children explored their aesthetic skills with the help of various colouring and craft activities done in the class virtually. They prepared a craft integrated with the festival ‘Lohri’, drew animals using different shapes and also made ‘Tiger Masks’ which was related to the theme of the month – Tiger. Musical Intelligence Musical intelligence is the ability to enjoy, observe, differentiate, create and express musical forms. It touches us on an emotional level and influences our mood. As beautifully said by Billy Joel, “Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music”. Indian Music The beauty of Indian classical music lies in its spontaneity. The music is produced live, on the spot, feeding off energy from the listeners as well as the energy on stage. Children along with the educator welcomed each other with the song – ‘आओ आओ संगीत बनायें’, Children practiced songs like-

Dance “Dancing stimulates the mind, body & soul. It increases cognitive strengths and prolongs life; that is the miracle of dance.” It is a beautiful form of art that helps us express ourselves and promotes growth as well as enjoyment. This month, children had a great time practicing Bhangra steps on a peppy Punjabi song, ‘रंगला पंजाब.’ Bodily Kinaesthetic Intelligence Kinaesthetic learning often includes physical repetition of tasks, which builds muscle memory in children and further boosts retention. Movement can increase energy, which helps children stay focused. It also improves critical thinking, problem-solving skills and most importantly self-confidence. Interpersonal Intelligence Birthday celebration- Show & Tell It gives immense joy to our little ones to be a part of birthday celebrations. Hence, the birthdays of Nursery children born in January were celebrated virtually on Monday, 31st January. 2022. The theme for the celebration was ‘Tiger’. The children were dressed according to the theme and used various props to showcase their speaking skills in the birthday show and tell activity. They eagerly waited for their turns to share their knowledge with friends and reiterated the basic etiquettes to be adopted while attending a birthday party. Storytelling “Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.”- Robert Mckee Storytelling is more than just reading out loud, the words of a story. Stories teach us about life, about ourselves and about others. Stories are part of every culture. The following stories were narrated by the educator during the month of January:
Drama Drama develops creative imagination in children and allows them to think and express themselves independently. So, this month the educator narrated the following stories with appropriate actions and gestures for the children to practice later: 1. ‘शेर और बैल’ 2. 'जादुई आम' Events and Celebrations Lohri and Makar Sankranti Assembly A special assembly was held virtually on the occasion of ‘Lohri’ and ‘Makar Sankranti’. The students of Pre-Nursery and Nursery – D presented a beautiful assembly. Lohri marks the onset of spring and the beginning new year as per the Hindu calendar. The festival is traditionally associated with the harvest of rabi crops. The children also performed a dance on the Lohri song. During the assembly, the children shared a few details about both the festivals as they are the important harvest festivals of our country. The young Suncitizens talked about why and how we celebrate ‘Lohri’ and ‘Makar Sankranti’. Makar Sankranti is believed to be a time for peace and prosperity. The children recited ‘Surya Mantra’ to celebrate the auspicious festival of Makar Sankranti. Republic Day Special Assembly
A special assembly was presented by the children of KG – A to celebrate the glory of free India with great zeal on the virtual platform. During the assembly, the children showcased the culture and traditions of the various states of India. They also highlighted the importance of few rights of the citizens of India which are mentioned in the Indian constitution. In the end, our tiny tots presented a scintillating dance performance. The rendition of the National Anthem filled the environment with the spirit of patriotism.
