There is something magically introspective and peaceful about the changing of the seasons- especially the transition from summer to autumn. Dear Parent, Greetings! October is best known for its festivities, and it's also a month loaded with national and global celebrations like Gandhi Jayanti, Durga Pooja, Dussehra and Halloween. It is the second Autumn month and one could feel a nip of cold in the October air which means cozy apparel, favorite chilly weather recipes in addition to festive clothing and delicacies to rejuvenate the festive spirits. So, when it comes to participation and celebration, children are not left behind and they enjoy each and every moment with us equally. So, let’s take a sneak peek into the month of “Overwhelming October”. Universal Value- ‘I am Peace’ During the Rapport building sessions, children were explained the significance of the Universal Value- ‘I am Peace’. Peace – Peace is caring for others, giving to others and love to all. The children were given various examples of the situations such as - What will you do if you come across a few homeless hungry stray animals? The importance of giving a smile, a hug, saying nice things to others etc. was discussed with the help of examples, a story and pictures. Theme- Earth’s Natural CycleLearning about the Earth’s natural cycle and seasons help children understand the passage of time and teaches them about the change that occurs on our planet. The theme of the month was Earth’s natural cycle. Natural cycles balance and regulate Earth and its atmosphere. Thus, it’s very important for children in the early years to understand this phenomenon. ●The children were explained about the process of formation of a shadow through an activity-Shadows on the wall. The children delightfully observed this activity and thereby understood the process of formation of a shadow. They also created animal shadow art. ● They were also explained about the process of formation of a shadow through an activity- Shadow Puppets. ● The children were narrated a story focusing on characteristics of different seasons. ● The children also experimented to understand the process of the water cycle. Through the PowerPoint presentation and video link, they understood how evaporation, condensation and precipitation takes place and their relevance in the water cycle. Naturalistic IntelligenceThe educator sensitized children about the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ integrated with the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. They were made aware of important facts about Mahatma Gandhi. ●Children were made aware of the concept of ‘day and night’ with the help of a video. Children understood how day and night are formed. ● Educator explained the SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) through an activity of Paper windmill craft and discussed the following points with children. 1. Wind is a clean, free, and readily available renewable source of energy. 2.Wind power generation plays an increasingly important role in the way we power our world- in a clean, sustainable manner. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence We always want our children to develop the ability to think and express their thoughts using words. Keeping this in mind, our young enthusiasts were taken a step further in their journey of reading and writing. They were empowered to club the phonic sounds of the letters to form words.

Visual-Spatial IntelligenceLearning to express themselves in a visual medium can greatly benefit students’ emotional well-being and academic progress. Research shows that kids who practice visual arts are more comfortable exploring their imagination and emotions. It also helps in development of fine motor skills, listening and interpreting visual information, language skill development, good decision making and enhancing self- confidence. Below are the activities which were carried out this month: ●Children made a ‘Gandhi Jayanti Craft’ wherein they enjoyed making three wise monkeys of Gandhi ji. They were also introduced to the significance of these three monkeys. ●A ‘Quail Craft’ was created by the children along with the educator related to the letter ‘q’. Children had fun arranging and pasting the different cut outs to create the letter ‘q’. They also learnt to draw feather and legs of a quail. ●Children made a cute ‘Snail Craft’ integrated with the letter ‘s’, wherein they enjoyed making the shell of the snail. They were astonished to see the snail moving when pushed by the fingers. ●The educator reiterated the significance and values of Ramayana. Later, children made stick puppets of Shri Ram and Sita ji as ‘Diwali Craft’. ●Children made Halloween craft along with the educator. Children were made aware of the reasons for celebrating Halloween. Musical Intelligence Music stimulates the brain in a very powerful way because of our emotional connection with it. Music can raise someone’s mood and get them excited. It can also improve long term memory and lead to better brain development. Learning music can improve a child’s social and cognitive skills.
