Dear Parent(s), Greetings! Our yearly theme is 'Resilience,’ which means the ability to withstand adversity and bounce back from difficult life events. This year's theme is dedicated to making the children emotionally strong to cope with challenges and withstand pressure as they grow up, have self-awareness and awareness of the environment around them. In this memorable journey of 12 months, let's dive through the journey of the first two months... THEME-Me and Myself “Children are not things to be molded, but people to be unfolded.” -Jess Lair The younglings of Nursery were warmly welcomed on the first day of the school. as we embarked on a new session filled with excitement and endless possibilities. Whether they were returning students or joined us for the first time, we were thrilled to have them as part of our vibrant educational community. We certainly created a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone felt valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. Let’s peep into the months of Awesome April and Miraculous May. Storytelling Suncity believes in the theory of multiple intelligences because it instils types of mental strengths and abilities in children. One of the various ways to enhance multiple intelligence in children is storytelling . It not only stimulates curiosity but also helps children know sounds, words, language, and develop literacy skills, especially in the early years. With an aim to promote literacy skills, children were told the story of ‘The boy who drew cats’ in the second week followed by a cat-making activity using number 2 in the third week of April. In the last week, they listened to the story of ‘Cat’s egg’ followed by drawing and decorating an easter egg during the next month. These shapes were introduced with the help of real objects. Visual Spatial Intelligence Visual-spatial learning refers to a person's ability to observe, analyze and understand visual information in their environment. Visual-spatial learners may think in images and pictures, rather than in words, and they typically learn holistically rather than sequentially. Bodily kinaesthetic activities have numerous benefits for children. Firstly, they improve gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. During the month of April and May children attempted locomotor & non-locomotor activities:· Interpersonal Intelligence Birthday celebration: Show and Tell April Birthday is one of the most special days for everyone and if celebrated with friends it becomes memorable. May The greatest life lessons learnt are through what is emphasized repeatedly in our lives. So, ‘Show and tell’ for the month of May was conducted on the topic, ‘My favorite family member’. Children dressed themselves as family member or they carried an object or a picture and imparted knowledge about the related topic in front of their friends and the educator. Montessori: - Montessori education is the ideal environment for your child to learn and thrive. Montessori education allows children to reach their full potential as they enter the world as engaged, competent, responsible, and courteous citizens who understand and appreciate the value of lifelong learning. The Montessori method uses a hands-on approach to promote social skills and independence while also engaging all five senses. It also teaches children how to learn practical life skills like cooking, cleaning, and washing. Children attempted the below-given activities and materials: •Sandpaper letters(a,b,c,d,e)- Children traced the letters with their two fingers to understand the formation and enhance their linguistic skills. It also helped develop their eye-hand coordination. •Spooning and Pouring- They also performed this practical life skill wherein they practiced spooning from one bowl and then pouring the material into the other bowl. It enhanced their focus, patience, independence, and organization skills. •Geometric cabinet (Circle and Square)-. At this young age children crave to know the names of things and have an innate desire to classify their knowledge. The Montessori Geometric Cabinet contains a set of two-dimensional shapes for children to explore. Children got an opportunity to trace the circle and square to strengthen their logical skills and understanding of shapes. Drama Drama enhances verbal and non-verbal expression of ideas. It improves voice projection, articulation of words, fluency with language, and persuasive speech. They enjoyed bean game by following the simple instructions. They practiced voice intonation and exercises based on vowels a,e,i,o,u. They also enjoyed random walk with an array of expressions. Dance Dancing is a way to stay fit. Dance is the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the movement itself. Dance provides physical and mental relaxation, laughter, fun and entertainment. During the month of April and May, Nursery children attempted to learn dance steps on the song ‘Every move I make’ and ‘I like to move it’. Skating Skating is fun and also a great source of exercise. It improves a child's balance and coordination. I may lose my balance but I never lose my determination. Our little sun citizens have started to grasp the skill of balancing on skates. They wore helmets and pads for protection from safety. Pottery: The educator explained the basics of clay modeling. They created a smiley face to kickstart their pottery sessions in school. The students were delighted to see their creations. Children practiced making different things related to vocabulary of the letters, like apple, balloon, donut, with clay and playdough. Imaginarium It is to be believed that imagination is one of the greatest gifts. A child's ability to imagine is limitless and has no bounds. Our little sun citizens had fun playing with a variety of equipment at different learning stations such as the kitchen station, supermarket station, and lego station during the visit to the imaginarium. They also explored sensory tables wherein they sorted pom poms as per its colour. Also they enjoyed at the supermarket station and performed pretend play buying healthy food in the imaginarium lab. EYP Playtime “Play is the highest form of research”. Albert Einstein Playing can help children develop their social skills with others. To have good physical and mental health and to learn life skills, they need various unstructured play opportunities from birth. Water Play ‘Splash, splash everywhere puddles of water here and there.’ Water play is an inevitable part of the preschool curriculum as it helps in gross motor development, and eye-hand coordination and also helps in vocabulary development. The little ones in the Nursery had a wonderful time during their water play in the summer months. Events
Earth day assembly Earth Day pushes us towards achieving a greener economy. It aims to improve human well-being without putting an extra burden on the environment. In Suncity our little nurturers of KG A showcased a wonderful assembly on 'Earth Day'. They laid emphasis on ‘Make every day an Earth Day’ by practicing sustainable actions in our daily life. Children shared a few amazing facts about our mother Earth such as “Do you all know… Earth is not perfectly round”. They held everyone captive with their dance performance on, “Together we can change the world”. The aim was to encourage them to take small steps towards devising a better world because the very existence of life on this planet depends on the efforts made by us to protect it. Mother’s Day assembly God could not be everywhere, therefore he made mothers. I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine, she helps me to grow and prosper and reach great heights. With this beautiful thought, the shining stars of KG B conducted a special assembly on the auspicious occasion of Mother's Day. The children shared their loving thoughts for the mothers and explained that one day is not enough to celebrate motherhood and we should make every day as special as Mother's Day. They also paid gratitude to the mothers for their endless love and care through ‘I Love My Mommy ‘song. The event concluded with a mesmerizing dance performance. Our relationship, which is always with us, is the one, we share with our mothers. They are our guiding force and are responsible for making us who we are. Mother – She shapes our lives and our personalities also. Manner Development Visit Basic manners and etiquette in children show that they have been raised and taught well. Kids learn from their parents and teachers they basically imitate us. Therefore, it is important to be on your best behaviour in front of kids so that they can watch and learn. Instilling good manners from an early age is very important to make your child an overall pleasant, polite, and kind person. Teaching manners isn’t rocket science, but your toddler needs to learn more than just “please” and “thank you”. In the month of May, our little sun citizens visited Flight of Dreams. It is a retired Air India plane Airbus A320 that got converted into a fine dining restaurant. It’s a restaurant with a new concept with scrumptious food. Children got the opportunity to learn social and table etiquette while traveling in Airbus. The children had fun while learning and the whole trip was enjoyable and memorable.
