Naturalistic Intelligence Trips and tours are very important for new learning and exposure. To enhance their knowledge, our little ones went on a virtual tour of the airport with the help of the educator using AV-link. The educator introduced the concept of 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) through a rhyme: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle It’s very easy to do It's simple to remember Recycle what you use! Separate glass and paper Separate plastic and tin Then put them in their places In the recycling bin. SDG-7; ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’ was discussed in the class followed by explaining the different forms of energy like electricity, fuel, and gas. The educator also discussed the ways we can protect our environment by using green transportation. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence –English In the nursery, we embark on an exciting journey into the world of language through songs, stories, and playful conversations. Our little ones are blossoming into confident communicators one word at a time! Children recognized the letters ‘n’, ‘o', and' p' with the help of stories, through jolly phonics song, and their related vocabulary words. They also recapitulated writing letters 'e', 'f', and 'g' in their notebooks. Children practiced reading a few sight words- that, is, it, at, this, in, they, she, he, if, of. When children hear stories, it helps them learn about important values as they are introduced to new ideas, and enhances their working memory and performance. Keeping this aim in mind, children have narrated the story of ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ followed by weaving a story map as an activity based on the story in the next two weeks. Children also listened to the Amazon folktale of ‘The Tree of Life’ followed by its drawing activity. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence Children learnt to exhibit the value of numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the abacus along with the writing practice in their notebooks. The concept of ‘missing numbers’ was also taken up with the help of a story- ‘Ms. Polly and her missing Shirts’. Children enjoyed the same and practiced in their workbooks. Our little mathematicians were able to identify, quantify, and write numbers from 14 to 16 under the concept of bundling followed by tens and ones activity. The children recapitulated the concept of ‘What comes in Between’ (1-10) with the help of a number line. The children did oral counting from 1 to 50. Visual-Spatial Intelligence Visual Art Visual-spatial activities often involve multiple senses, which can enhance memory retention and comprehension, making learning more enjoyable and effective. Children can express their thoughts, emotions, and ideas through visual means when they struggle with verbal communication, boosting their self-esteem and confidence. During the month children enjoyed crafts like ‘Build your own Train’ where they wrote their name letters on the train and drew blocks whereas in the second week letter ‘O’ octopus craft was done during the session followed by the Letter ‘P’ penguin craft in the next week. As a part of the monthly theme ‘rocket craft’ took place in the last week of the month. Musical Intelligence Music enriches children's lives by enhancing their cognitive development and language skills. It also nurtures creativity and emotional expression, making it an essential part of a well-rounded education for kids. Indian Music This month, Children enjoyed reciting the ‘छोटी छोटी गइया’ and ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ songs and had fun learning the rhythm clapping. Western Music Children enjoyed singing the song ‘I Have a Pet’. Bodily Kinaesthetic Intelligence Physical Education intelligence in early years is more than just exercise; it's a crucial component of holistic child development. In Suncity, we believe in nurturing this intelligence through fun and engaging activities. Through games, outdoor play, and structured exercises, we help our little ones build physical strength, coordination, and teamwork skills. Our little enthusiasts practiced warm-up exercises like on-the-spot jogging, jumping, and running. They enjoyed doing agility exercises like modified zig-zag running with cones, and leaping over a hula hoop while carrying a ball and the hurdle race was a lot of fun. Montessori The Montessori method of education fosters a sense of independence and personal development in the classroom. Our children developed motor control, coordination, concentration, independence, and a sense of responsibility in a Montessori classroom. Children practiced the numbers using the number beads and number cards. They practiced the formation of letters ‘n’, ‘o’, and ‘p’ on the sandpaper letter card. This activity not only allowed the children to trace the letters but also enabled them to feel the letter formations and identify their phonic sounds. Children also enhanced their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and visual perception to build awareness of dimensions using the ‘Pink Tower’ apparatus. Drama Drama is telling a story through actions and speech and is meant to be acted on a stage. Drama is a play that can be performed for theatre, radio, or even television. Drama enhances verbal and non-verbal expression of ideas. It improves voice projection, articulation of words, fluency with language, and persuasive speech. In the month of September, our little ones acted as 'Uncle Tom' with an array of situations like laughing, crying, etc. They envisioned the sounds of lion and wolf and had fun imitating animals such as elephants, Alligators etc. Dance Dance is an art that consists of sequences of movement. It strengthens muscles, improves body balance, and increases flexibility. Dance has been proven to increase cognitive development. During this month, the children attempted dance steps on 'वो किसना है ' special song. Skating “Four wheels move the body, but roller skates move the soul.” Skating is a great activity for a child's development. Our little ones have started to grasp the skills of balancing on wheels while bending and walking in straight or zigzag lines. Some obstacle games were played with the help of a skating coach which helps to improve their balance and coordination. Pottery Following an integrated approach to learning, the children created a necklace, a sailboat, a butterfly, and a pot (using the potters wheel). These activities helped our young Suncitizens visualize objects in three dimensions and connect them to their classroom learning of letters. Imaginarium Imaginarium is a space where students can use the resources as per their imagination. Their imaginative thoughts inspire creativity and bring out the best. Our little Suncitizens explored various stations in the lab. As per the theme, educators assisted them in designing their favourite transport using Lego. Legos were used by little ones in a very productive way. The objective of an immersive environment is to engage and inspire students along with creating a sense of being transported to a different world. EYP Play Area Free play provides valuable opportunities for children to interact and collaborate with their peers. They learn to negotiate, take turns, share resources, and communicate effectively, fostering the development of essential social skills. Through play, children also learn empathy, respect, and cooperation, setting a foundation for positive relationships. Birthday celebration- Show &Tell It gives immense joy to our little ones to be a part of birthday celebrations. Hence, the birthdays of Nursery children born in September were celebrated on Friday, 29th September 2023. The theme for the celebration was ‘Water and Air transport’. The children were dressed according to the theme and used various props to showcase their speaking skills in the birthday ‘Show and Tell’ activity. They eagerly waited for their turns to share their knowledge with friends and reiterated upon the basic etiquette to be adopted while attending a birthday party. Grandparents’ Day Assembly “Family is not an important thing, it is everything.” - Michael J. Fox On the occasion of Grandparents’ Day, the school assembly was transformed into a heartwarming celebration of love and legacy by the students of Grade, Nursery- B. The highlight of the assembly was a heartwarming skit where a cheerful granny imparted a valuable lesson about the importance of gratitude in life. With her heartfelt words, she reminded everyone to always appreciate what they have. The children showcased their deep affection for their grandparents, creating a poignant moment that touched every heart in the room. As the children poured their love and care into their performances, expressing their fondness for their grandparents, the atmosphere was thick with emotion. This affection was further showcased through an adorable dance performance, filling the hall with joy and laughter. Our academic head, Ms. Bhawna Singh, graced the assembly with her words, echoing the sentiment and importance of grandparents and the lessons we learn from them.
