Dear Parents, Greetings, Let's glance through the month of ‘Outstanding October’. “The dance between darkness and light will always remain— the darkness will just not be worth having without the moon and the stars.” ― C. JoyBell C. To help the students build an understanding of ‘Shadows’, ‘Day & Night’, and Seasons, we incorporated ‘Earth’s Natural Cycle’ as the theme of the month. • The children were introduced to the concept of ‘Shadows.’ They enhanced their knowledge about the different types and sizes of shadows through various activities such as a freehand drawing of the shadows of animals on an A4 sheet, and a shadow puppet show wherein they guessed different shadows of animals created by the educators with the help of hand movements. • The students were also apprised of the concept of ‘Day and Night’, wherein they were shown the Sun’s reflection on the Earth, which filled their eyes with wonder and excitement. • The concept of the ‘Water Cycle ‘was also explained by the educator through a video demonstration and a Power Point Presentation. The children also enjoyed making a water cycle craft. • The children were thrilled to learn the astonishing facts about the Summer and Monsoon Seasons through a discussion and rhymes. They could relate them to their day-to-day activities. NaturalisticConcept of Day and Night using Globe activity: Educators demonstrated the Earth's rotation using a globe. They enthusiastically spotted ‘Suncity School’ on the globe. Flashlights were used to explain the phenomena of day and night to the children. Green Diwali: Diwali is known as the festival of lights but it has now become synonymous with noise, crackers and pollution. To avoid these things educators discussed some alternatives for a Green Diwali such as avoiding electric lights, opting for diyas, disposing off the waste after Diwali, saying no to Crackers etc. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence –EnglishLearning phonics is one of the most important stepping stones in early reading.
